How is BCG's case interview different from McKinsey's?
BCG cases are typically more candidate-led — you drive the structure and problem-solving, with the interviewer offering information when asked. This requires more initiative and comfort with ambiguity than McKinsey's interviewer-led format. BCG also places slightly more emphasis on creative, hypothesis-driven thinking versus rigid MECE issue trees. Both require strong quantitative skills and clear communication.
What does BCG look for in candidates?
BCG looks for analytical rigour, structured thinking, and genuine intellectual curiosity — but also the ability to collaborate and communicate insights clearly to non-expert clients. How many rounds does BCG interview have?
BCG typically runs 4 rounds: Fit Interview → Case Study 1 → Case Study 2 → Final Round. First-round interviews are with consultants or project leaders; the Final Round is with Partners or Principals.
